Most residents choose Independent Living for peace of mind and to enjoy life to its fullest.

Our apartments are affordable apartments rented on a one year basis.
It is program where rent may be less than market rate for residents who have a limited income.
The maximum income limit is determined annually by WHEDA for each county based on the median county income.
The income is calculated in two parts. The first part is the fixed gross income received from Social Security, pension, employment, annuity, etc. The second part is the income derived from financial assets such as dividends, interest, etc.
The regulations governing income calculation for the Affordable (Section 42) program are not the same as those governing income calculation for the IRS tax return. Also, it is the projection or estimation of the annual income, monetary or not, the household is to receive in the next 12 month period that is used for certification.
Yes. Regular and periodic family support, monetary or not, is considered income.
The net market value after the deduction of any debt on the property and the estimated selling cost is to be included as an asset for further calculation.
The Affordable (Section 42) program does not permit deduction of medical expenses.
The Affordable (Section 42) program does not subsidize rent. The Section 8 program subsidizes rent if you qualify. Under Section 8 your rent payment is based on 30% of your adjusted gross monthly income. Section 8 funds pay anything above 30% up to a set limit.
The estimated time to process an application is approximately 2 to 4 weeks. Please know inaccurate information will slow down the process.
Annual recertification is required. The required documentation is the same for recertification as it is for initial certification. If you exceed the recertification maximum income level by more than 140% or refuse to provide the required information, you may not qualify to continue living in the apartment home.
Yes, residents must be at least 55 years of age and better.
All residences are unfurnished, allowing you to bring whatever furniture and accessories you like to decorate your new home.
Yes, scheduled chauffeured transportation is available for personal appointments for a nominal fee. Additional group outings are provided for a small fee.
Each apartment home has emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms. If an individual pull cord is activated the system will automatically ring our 24 hour monitoring company who will immediately notify Dane County Dispatch. The EMS will respond accordingly. In addition, an EHC staff member is called to respond.
We understand that pets are cherished members of the family. Our communities permit one small pet in an apartment. There is an additional pet security deposit as well as a pet agreement.
Yes, there is a guest suite at our Meadow Grove location for a reasonable nightly fee.
