Toys For Tots Campaign A Success

Residents and staff of Ecumenical Housing collected toys for the 2010 Toys For Tots Campaign. This was their second annual campaign drive. All three EHC communities, Dempsey Manor, Meadow Grove and Taylor Ridge, contributed to the program. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.


Ecumenical Housing Gives Back To The Community

Residents and staff of Ecumenical Housing Corporation recently donated school supplies to Madison and Cottage Grove schools. They collected an assortment of much needed supplies for children in need within the communities. Some of the items donated were notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, color markers, glue, scissors, rulers, tape, backpacks and lunch boxes. This event was one of several in the “Give Back To The Community” program. The organization provides housing for active seniors.


Ronald McDonald House receives donation

Recently residents and staff of Ecumenical Housing worked together to help collect items that were needed by the Ronald McDonald House. The effort was a huge success. All three of EHC’s ssenior communities, Dempsey Manor, Meadow Grove and Taylor Ridge, contributed to the program. This event was one of several in their “Give Back to the Community” program.


Tai Chi to be offered at Taylor Ridge

Individuals 55 and better are invited to a FREE Tai Chi Educational Seminar on March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at Taylor Ridge. Presented by Ecumenical Housing Corporation, this seminar will feature Dona Krauser of Karate America in Sun Prairie. She will demonstrate several different healthful, stress reducing movements. Come prepared to try a few motions yourself and gain a greater understanding of this unique and timeless art form. Taylor Ridge is located at 510 Westlawn Dr. in Cottage Grove.


Educational Program on Forgiveness at Meadow Grove

Individuals 55 and better are invited to a free Educational Seminar on Forgiveness at Meadow Grove (55+ retirement community) on Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. Presented by Ecumenical Housing Corporation, Ann and Lori of Living Counseling Services, LLC will speak about the consequences of harboring resentful feelings and teach techniques to help people forgive and move on. Meadow Grove is located at 4815 Cottage Grove Road in Madison (just east of Stoughton Road). EHC teamed up with the United States Marine Corps and collected many Toys and cash donations. The campaign was a huge success. Residents of Ecumenical Housing Corporation knit caps for soldiers overseas.

Residents of Dempsey Manor, Meadow Grove and Taylor Ridge have been working on a special project for soldiers overseas in Afghanistan and Iraq. Partnering with the VFW (Post 7591), EHC residents have been knitting skull caps for soldiers to place under their helmets for comfort and warmth. After the caps are completed, staff from EHC delivers them to the VFW post at 301 Cottage Grove Rd. and then they are shipped out to the soldiers.
